Welcome to our credit reporting service. This document explains how you can use our service, your rights, and our responsibilities. By using our service, you agree to these terms.
Definitions
"Service" means our credit reporting application
"You" or "your" means you, the consumer using our service
"We," "us," or "our" means Accentity Tech Solutions Ltd
"Data" means information about your financial history and activities
"NDPA" means the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023
"Credit Profile” or “Credit Identity" means the compilation of your financial information, behaviour and score
"Consent" means your explicit permission for specific actions
Your Credit Identity Ownership
You own your credit identity. This means:
You have ownership and control over who can access your credit profile
You decide what financial data we have access to, how we use it and how long we have access to it
You can grant or revoke permission to the inclusion of specific data types
You maintain the right to access, correct, and update your profile
Our Services
We provide:
Access to your credit report and score
Tools to help you understand your credit status
Recommendations to improve your credit score
Recommendations on how to improve your financial position
Alerts about changes to your credit report and financial stability
Consent Requirements
Data Sources Consent
During the onboarding process, we will request your explicit consent to collect data from:
Traditional data sources:
Banking institutions
Loan providers
Mortgage companies
Alternative data sources include but are not limited to:
Mobile money transactions
Utility bill payments
Rent payments
Retail purchase history
Telecom data
You will be presented with each specific data source and must provide explicit consent for each one individually. You can choose which sources to approve or deny. We must have a minimum number of data sources to proceed.
Data Usage Consent
During onboarding, we will request your explicit consent for how your data will be used:
Core services:
Creating your credit profile
Calculating your credit score
Providing reports to lenders and other requesters (only with your explicit consent)
Additional services:
Fraud detection and prevention
Developing personalised financial improvement recommendations
Service improvements and analytics
Research purposes (using anonymised data)
Each use will be clearly explained, and you must provide explicit consent for each purpose.
Data Retention Period Consent
During onboarding, you will select how long we can retain and access your data:
Options provided:
3 months
6 months
12 months
Until you revoke consent
Renewal process:
We will notify you 30 days before your chosen retention period expires
You can renew or change your retention period at that time
If you take no action, we will stop accessing new data but maintain existing data until you provide new instructions or 6 months, which ever comes first
Your Data Rights (In Compliance with NDPA)
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, you have the right to:
Access your data: You can request a copy of all data we hold about you.
Correct your data: If you find errors in your credit report, you can request corrections.
Control your data: You decide how your data is used beyond essential service functions.
Data portability: You can request your data in a format that allows transfer to other services.
Delete your data: You can request deletion of your data when you close your account (with some exceptions required by law).
Object to processing: You can object to certain uses of your data.
Withdraw consent: You can withdraw permission for optional data uses at any time.
Manage consent: You can view and modify your consent settings at any time through your account dashboard.
Data Collection and Use
We collect:
Personal information (name, address, government issued ID number, BVN)
Financial information (banks statements, loan history, payment records, transaction history)
Account information from connected banking services
Information from credit partners and public records
Alternative data sources you've explicitly approved
We use this data to:
Create your credit identity
Calculate your credit score
Provide financial improvement recommendations
Identify potential fraud
Improve our services
Comply with legal requirements
Data Sharing
We may share your data with:
Financial institutions when you apply for credit or any form of deferred payment (with your specific permission for each instance)
Our service partners who help operate our platform
Government authorities when legally required
Fraud prevention agencies to protect against criminal activity
We will never sell your personal data to advertisers or marketing companies.
Security
We protect your data using:
Encryption during storage and transmission
Regular security assessments
Strict access controls
Staff training on data protection
Mandatory breach notification within 72 hours
Your Responsibilities
You agree to:
Provide accurate and truthful information
Keep your account login details secure
Not share your account access with others
Report suspected unauthorised access immediately
Use our service only for lawful purposes
Review and update your consent preferences as needed
Service Availability and Changes
We aim to provide uninterrupted service but cannot guarantee it
We may update our service features with notice to you
We may change these terms with 30 days' notice
Fees and Payments
Basic access to your credit report is free forever
Additional services may require payment
All fees will be clearly disclosed before you agree to pay
We accept payment through Paystack
Account Termination
Either party may end this agreement:
You can close your account at any time
We will close your account after the consented retention period has lapsed
We may close your account if you violate these terms
We may close your account after 12 months of inactivity
Dispute Resolution
If you have concerns:
Contact our customer support team first
If unresolved, you can file a complaint with our Data Protection Officer
You may also contact the Nigeria Data Protection Commission
Limitation of Liability
We provide this service "as is"
We are not responsible for decisions made based on your credit report
Our liability is limited to the amount you paid for our service in the last 12 months
Nothing in this agreement limits liability for fraud or death/personal injury
Governing Law
These terms are governed by Nigerian law, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023.
